Read MoreIt was an exciting day celebrating the official breaking of ground for the Wanskuck Building for the Boys and Girls Club of Providence. State and community leaders celebrated the groundbreaking of a new project to renovate the Wanskuck Boys & Girls Club facility in Providence on Friday. The $10.5 million renovation is designed to increase the Branch Avenue building’s capacity for more children and families. According to the organization, the Wanskuck clubhouse is the oldest and largest among the eight locations in Providence. Due to its age, the building is described as “underutilized,” with only a third of its space currently used for club activities.

The unit will house group therapy, consultation, exam, and activity rooms in addition to space for patient beds. Creating secure environments for staff and patients to safely provide and receive care is a top priority. Specialty impact windows and anti-barricade doors will accompany intricate security systems throughout. Renovations include enhancement of the building’s facade to correct moisture penetration issues.
